Figure 8b hydroxyl radicals

Relative chaperone activity at different hydrogen peroxide concentrations is displayed. The Fenton reaction was used to generate hydroxyl radicals. 0.5 mM FeSO4 was incubated together with up to 10 mM H2O2 and Hsp33 for 1 h. Formation of hydroxyl radicals was monitored using terephthalic acid, which reacts with hydroxyl radicals to HTA leading to a fluorescence signal (λex= 315 nm;λem= 425 nm). The incubation of Hsp33 with hydroxyl radicals was carried out at room temperature.
