The current research interests of the "Fachgebiet Theoretische Elektrotechnik" (aka Electrodynamics and Physical Electronics Group) are in the area of low temperature plasmas and electronic and ionic devices.
The members of the group develop and employ theoretical and computational methods to model nonequilibrium systems listed above for which the interaction of electromagnetic fields and charged particles play a crucial role. The overarching goal is to understand the macroscopic behavior of the systems based on the microscopic dynamics of atoms, molecules, electrons, and photons.Furthermore, a division of the Electrodynamics and Physical Electronics Group led by Jan Trieschmann works in the field of Data Driven Modeling.
