Research Data Management
The success of a dedicated business location competing with industrialised countries on the global market is essentially determined by its potential to successfully transform high-tech scientific research into marketale products. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is a powerful partner for the local industry in many technologically relevant areas. Our research is an important source for new developments and ideas for those companies.
One important field of research with a high innovation potential is the plasma technology. It is the key technology of the 21st century. Applications can be found in nearly every industrial branch. They range from semiconductor industry and micro machining over refining technical surfaces on the nanometer scale up to specialized light sources or the switching of high currents.
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum belongs to the leading and well accepted research centres in the field of plasma technology. Within this field of research the Ruhr-Universität Bochum possesses a unique selling proposition. Cooperations with partners in the Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Japan underline the competence and the acceptance of the plasma research performed here in Bochum. The focus on the technologically highly relevant non-equilibrium plasmas is the basis for existing and new insutrial cooperations.
University-wide 23 institutes and research groups with more than 300 employees concentrate on the following research topics:
- Plasma technology for biomedical applications
- Plasma process development and control
- Nano particles and plasma driven light sources
- New types of plasma sources (ICP, VHF, Jets)
- Plasma treatment of plastics to enhance diffusion properties
- Plasma diagnostics and process monitoring
- Atmospheric micro plasmas
- Plasma Modeling
- Plasmas for ecological power generation
